Jai Gurudev. As we head into the month of May, the days become lighter, sunrise is earlier and sunset is much later. A month of many events around the world but in the UK, the wait for the announcement of it's new Prime Minister is on every tabloid and TV. When asked who I would vote for, I always reply, I will vote for the one who promises to support our communities, improve NHS and the education system. It is important to have a good leadership for our country as much as it is for our lives. This month, ISSC invites you to our events listed on the 'Events' page on the website. This Sunday 3rd May, Nepalese Helping Hand and Nepalese Harrow Community are organising a prayer ceremony for the victims and the survivors to build their lives again. The leaflet is attached. Donations will be much appreciated. God Bless, Jai Gurudev Guruji
On Thursday 30th April, ISSC held a special Prayer ceremony for the victims and families of the Nepal Earthquake Premier Banqueting Hall in harrow. The ceremony was conducted amongst various communities who all took part in the prayers to ask for the victim's souls to rest in peace and to give strength for the survivors to continue their lives. The opening ceremony was welcomed by a candle each lit and offered to Lord Shiva by The Worshipful Mayor of Harrow Cllr Ajay Maru, The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Hugh Rayner, The Worshipful Mayor of Southwark Cllr Sunil Chopra, Southall & Ealing Labour Candidate Mr Virendra Sharma, Inspector Mahil from Ealing Metropolitan Police, Director of MATV Mr Kuldeep Shekhawat and Director Mr Gaurang Patel of Jaysam Builders. Thereafter His Holiness Shri RajRajeshwar Guruji began the Shanti Prayer with the chanting of the Guru Mantra which states 'Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru devo Maheshwara, Guru sakshat, param Brahma, tasmai shri guravay namah' This mantra is believed by the Hindus that Our creation is that Guru Brahma is the force of creation, the duration of our lives is that Guru Vishnu the force of preservation our trials, tribulations, illnesses, calamities and the death of the body is that Guru Devo Maheshwara, the force of destruction or transformation. There is a Guru nearby (Guru Sakshat) and a Guru that is beyond the beyond (Param Brahma). I make my offering (tasmai) to the beautiful (Shri) remover of my darkness, my ignorance; (Guru) it is to you I bow and lay down my life (Namah). He then chanted the Ganesh mantra with the Mahamrityunjaya mantra asking for peace to be brought to the souls of the victims. Representing the Sikh community, Mr Gopal Bacchu recited the verses from the Guru Granth Sahib explaining that when a soul enters a body, it is also connecting with the Almighty. It also states that we chant the names of the Sikh Gurus to bring us strength throughout our lives and to always guide us. When the soul departs the body, we again ask for the right direction from our Sikh Gurus. Jain respresentive Mr Vijay Sheth, conducted the Navkar mantra which is the most significant in Jainism. The message is very clear. If we want to be liberated from this world then we have to take the first step of renunciation. If we stay on the right path then we will proceed to a higher state, Arihant, and ultimately proceed to Siddha after nirvana (liberation from the cycle of birth and death). The younger generation from the Buddhism community, sang a beautiful prayer in Nepalese, which brought tears in many eyes of the public as the children prayed for help and strength for those who lost everything. Guruji then sang the Hanuman Chalisa, the prayer that consists 40 verses dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the destroyers of sins and protector of His devotees. The first chalisa was dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Earthquake, the second was dedicated to the survivors who are still struggling to live without clean water and homes, whilst the third chalisa was dedicated for the future and wellbeing of Nepal and its' people. The Hanuman Chalisa was followed by a bhajan (Hindu hymn) dedicated to Shirdi Sai Baba who is followed by many devotees around the world. Mr Bhupendra Pandeya also joined in with Guruji with a beautiful Shiv Bhajan and thereafter singer Mickey Sethi sang a song dedicated in memory to those who lost their family and friends. During the ceremony, Guruji welcomed our special guests once again and Mr Gaurang Patel from Jaysam Contractor Ltd. presented a cheque for Nepal Earthquake to ISSC. Premier Banqueting Hall was packed by members of the public who contributed enormously to the appeal fund for the Nepal Earthquake. The Shanti Prayer was complimented by many saying, it brought peace to their minds, tears in the eyes but strength in their hearts, On behalf of International Siddhashram Shakti Centre, I would like to thank the members of the public for their presence and donations.
